Subject Overview: Consolidating experience gained in the chosen art form in Contemporary Art Practice A, student initiated projects are devised and developed in consultation with the tutor. Individual guidance and advice will be provided with a view to realising resolved work suitable for exhibition. In consultation with the tutor students will prepare selected work and install it in a group exhibition in one of the School's exhibition venues. A formal group discussion of and critical reflection upon the working the exhibition will take place.
Objectives:
  • Plan and organise thethe student's own studio activity and effectively utilise resources appropriate to their developing art practice;
  • Explore ideas and personal concerns by means of the manipulation and organisation of materials and images;
  • Demonstrate a developing knowledge of contemporary visual art practice;
  • Investigate and evaluate the personal relevance of traditional and contemporary models of art practice;
  • Communicate verbally, their observations of and responses to the products of visual art practice.
Assessment: A folio of resolved and developmental work and supporting documentation (sketch book and or notebook) equivalent to 3,500 words (80%); selection, resolution, preparation, installation of exhibition component (20%)
