Subject Overview:

This subject is designed to consolidate and extend students' oral and listening skills while building on and extending the grammatical knowledge and vocabulary introduced in Chinese 2A. Students will be able to communicate in Chinese on a variety of topics in both spoken and written form.
Objectives:
  • On completion of the subject, students should have consolidated and built on grammatical knowledge increased their vocabulary, be able to communicate in Chinese on a variety of topics, both orally and in written form.
Assessment:

Oral and listening comprehension class work 20% (due weekly in class). a 10-minute oral examination 15% (during the examination period). a 30-minute listening test 15% (at the end of semester). homework and writing tests 10% (weekly in class). a 2-hour final examination 40% (during the examination period).

Class attendance is required for this subject; if you do not attend a minimum of 80% of classes without an approved exemption you will not be eligible for a pass in this subject. Assessment submitted late without an approved extension will be penalised at 10% per day. In-class tasks missed without approval will not be marked. All pieces of written work must be submitted to pass this subject.
