Master of Architecture
Master of Landscape Architecture
Master of Urban Design

Plus completion of 2 x 25 point masters studio subjects.

Completion of the first 100 points of the following 300 point programs:

Master of Landscape Architecture

Plus 2 x 25 points of masters studio subjects at second year level or higher.

Recommended Background Knowledge: Design theory and history.

Subject Overview: Students will explore a variety of creative practices used by architects and academics as research tools.
Objectives: On completion of the subject, students should have developed the ability to frame a design thesis question and identify an appropriate creative practice through which to test it.
Assessment:
  • A series of minor creative research exercises (50%), equivalent to 2500 words, due throughout the first 9 weeks (before Easter non-teaching period).
  • Class paper (25%), equivalent to 1250 words, to be presented at one tutorial (date tba) at some stage during the first 9 weeks.
  • Draft a design thesis statement, select a site, and frame a method of investigation that could be pursued during a Design Thesis studio (25%) equivalent to 1250 words, due week 12.
