Possible research areas:
Applied thermodynamics technology, transport energy and emissions, technical problems, systems theory, automatic control, history of technology, energy conversion and utilisation, fluid mechanics, materials technology, mechanics of solids, fracture mechanics and fatigue, biomechanics, ergonomics, machine dynamics, advanced design, concurrent engineering, marine engineering.
Machining and metal forming operations, metrology process capability and quality control, design of manufacturing systems, database design, financial and facilities planning, plant layout, rehabilitation engineering, ergonomics, technical problem solving methodology with reference to work study and operations research, CAM and MIS software development, scheduling, robotics and automation.
The research masters provides students with the opportunity to carry out independent and sustained research under appropriate supervision, to develop advanced research skills and techniques, and to present findings in documented, scholarly form. The research should make an independent contribution to learning, or offer a critical perspective on existing scholarship or methodology. |
