| Subject Overview: |
This subject provides an extension of skills in three areas selected by the student from the six modules of study in Production Skills 1A (lighting, sound, design, workshop, costume, and stage management). |

| Objectives: |
This subject continues and deepens the learning from Production Skills 1A. Design The module continues to develop set and costume design materials from any given stimulus. Students will be introduced to various techniques to extend their ability to develop and express design concepts visually and orally. Workshop Students will be introduced to various workshop techniques and materials to extend their ability to develop their construction skills. Costume Following the completion of this module students should have a greater understanding of the use of materials and quality of professional construction techniques expected when used to create simple period garments. Stage Management Following the completion of this module students should have a deeper understanding of the stage management role, including the role of the Assistant Stage Manager and the skill of calling a show. Lighting The student should be able to demonstrate the skills and produce the documentation necessary to light a small piece of theatre to the required standard. Sound Following the completion of this module students should have basic understanding of the various roles of the sound designer. They should also have an introductory understanding of various sound design software and hardware systems. |
| Assessment: |
Theareas of study will be assessed separately; the final result will be an aggregate of the three marks for the subject. The nature of assessment will include practical work eg. model making, millinery, and costume construction and written assignments eg. prompt copy, costume bible, lighting and set plans. Assignments will be dependent on the selected areas of study (80%); Participation (20%). |
