Subject Overview:

This subject draws on the emergence of performance in the 1960s that brought visual arts and performance together in a new form of artistic practice. Students will study how performance art and its practitioners, including Selarc, Orlan and Mike Parr, combined the liveness of theatre with the duration of artistic display to challenge the institutional nature of theatre gallery culture, subvert aesthetic norms and engage in cultural critique.
