Subject Overview: |
The subject will examine the interrelationships between nutrient supply, release, absorption and post-absorptive effects. The major areas of interest will focus on energy and protein partitioning at a cellular, tissue, organ and whole body level. The subject will also introduce and evaluate proteomics and metabolomic systems as a method to evaluate nutrient partition. The aims of this subject are to develop an in depth understanding of the inter-relationships between nutrient supply, release, absorption and post-absorptive effect by integration of laboratory and field practicals with theory based in lectures. Computer aided learning and modelling exercises will be also be used. |
