Subject Overview: | This subject is an introductory course in Chinese for students who have completed Chinese 1A . By the conclusion of this subject students should be able to speak with an acceptable standard of pronunciation, and read and write approximately 500 Chinese characters. Students will further develop their listening comprehension and speaking skills and gain further knowledge of Chinese cultural practices. |

Assessment: | Two short tests 20% (one due mid-semester and one at the end of semester), a 1-hour final examination 30% (due during the examination period), regular vocabulary tests 10% (ongoing), a 5-minute oral test 20% (examination period) and a 20-minute listening comprehension test 20% (examination period). |
