Time Commitment: Contact Hours: This subject is taught using multimedia teaching techniques and is based around business case studies. There is no face-to-face contact for this subject.
Total Time Commitment: This subject is run over an 8-week period as opposed to a standard 12 week semester subject. It is recommended that students devote 14 hours per week to this subject over 8 weeks.

Subject Overview:

Sound business decision-making in circumstances of incomplete information, risk and uncertainty, requires sound knowledge of the underlying financial situation of a firm. This subject is about understanding the key concepts of financial management relevant to analysing situations, evaluating alternative actions, implementing actions and exercising control. Interpreting financial information and budgeting for decision-making under conditions of incomplete knowledge, risk and uncertainty are central emphases of the subject.

Objectives:

The objective of this subject is to extend the participant's ability:

  • to assemble and organise key business financial information,
  • to interpret key financial information inlight of the established theoretical underpinnings
  • to use financial information in risky decision analysis.
  • Assessment:

    Group Management Report, 3000 words (40%), Individual Assignments, 1500 words (20%), Take Home Exam (20%), *Online Discussion Participation (20%).
