Subject Overview:

This subject was formerly called Studio 6: Investigation.

This subject is the culmination of each student's studies in the Master of Landscape Architecture. It will consist of a number of autonomous studio groups offering a range of opportunities for students to demonstrate an original approach to landscape architectural design synthesis based on research and critical thinking. These studios will offer an interdisciplinary experience with students working alongside architecture and urban design students. Students will be expected to demonstrate mastery of design resolution, conceptual engagement and aesthetic
expression.
Objectives:

On completion of this subject, students will be able to:

  • Demonstrate a capacity to make a contribution to the existing body of knowledge in landscape architectural theory and practice
  • Demonstrate an understanding of landscape architectural design as a form of research enquiry
Assessment: Progressive project work equivalent to 10,000 words. A 1,000 word assignment due in week 3(10%); a 3,000 word assignment due in week 7 (30%) and a 6000 word assignment due at the end of semester (60%).
