Time Commitment: Contact Hours: Two hours of practical language classes and a 2-hour culture seminar per week. Classes will be offered at the University of Melbourne, subject to minimum enrolments
Total Time Commitment: 4 contact hours/week , 4.5 additional hours/week. Total of 8.5 hours per week.
Prerequisites: LaTrobe-Post Intermediate Spanish A or approval of the subject coordinator.

Subject Overview: This subject combines the further development of language skills through a variety of activities with the study of aspects of Spanish and Latin American cultural and literary texts. Grammatical study is complemented by advanced practical oral work.
Objectives:
  • have further advanced their practical language skills to a level where they are able to communicate fluently with native speakers;
  • and extended their understanding of aspects of Spanish and Latin American culture, especially as expressed in a literary context.
Assessment: Written work comprising of 2000 words 40%, one 10 minute oral presentation 15%, one 15 minute oral exam 15% and a 1.5-hour written test 30% (due at the end of semester). Students must pass the end of semester written test in order to pass the subject.
