Subject Overview: | In this subject students will be introduced to various research methodologies appropriate to research in the creative arts. These will include processes and techniques associated with selecting and refining a research problem; the means of identifying the current state of research in the field of study; data identification and collection; information analysis and synthesis; and selection of appropriate means of disseminating research findings. |

Assessment: | Students will be expected to present seminars documenting the progress of their honours year, a research project and their research findings. They will be required to produce an annotated bibliography equivalent to 1000 words 25% (due week 6); a critical evaluation of research methodologies equivalent to 1000 words 25% (due week 10); and a detailed research plan and seminar presentation equivalent to 3000 words 50% (due at the end of semester). A hurdle requirement of a minimum 80% attendance required. Assessment submitted late without an approved formal extension will be penalised at 2% per day. Students who fail to submit up to 2-weeks after the final due date without a formal extension and/or special consideration will receive a fail grade for the piece of assessment. |
