Subject Overview:

Composition Minor (Full-Time), undertaken over three semesters of candidature.

Candidates must prepare a folio containing:

  • A minimum of two original compositions in different media totalling no less than 25 minutes' duration;
  • A CD recording of a performance of at least one work written during the period of candidature. The works proposed for the folio must be approved by the Graduate Studies Committee.
Objectives: On completion of this subject, students should have developed the technical and creative skills of music composition.
Assessment:

Candidates must submit three copies of the folio within the period of candidature for examination pursuant to Statute 12.5.1.

The folio will be examined using the procedures used for theses pursuant to Statutes 12.1 and 12.5.
