Subject Overview:

This subject is undertaken across 3 semesters of candidature. Students wishing to complete their Minor Thesis on a part-time basis (over 6 semesters) enrol in subject 740-634 Minor Thesis (Part Time) instead of 740-607.

To undertake a research project and prepare a thesis. The thesis topic must be approved by the Graduate Studies Committee and any variation to the topic must be approved by the Committee. The minor thesis may be presented as:
a thesis of approximately 15,000 words;
OR
a critical edition and commentary of comparable weighting;
OR
a folio of analyses and commentary of comparable weighting.

Objectives: On completion of the subject students should have acquired a detailed knowledge of scholarship in the area of their research, the necessary skills to conduct a research project, and a capacity to evaluate, interpret and report in a manner that demonstrates a high level of independent thought.
Assessment: Candidates must submit within the period of candidature two copies of the thesis for examination pursuant to Statute 12.5.1.
