|Time Commitment:||Contact Hours: A 1-hour lecture and a 1.5-hour seminar per week |
Total Time Commitment: 2.5 contact hours/week , 6 additional hours/week. Total of 8.5 hours per week.
|Prerequisites:||Usually completion of 37.5 points of Italian at intermediate or post-VCE level. European studies students wishing to enrol in this subject would normally have completed 37.5 points of European studies at second/third year.|

|Subject Overview:||The subject is designed to introduce students to a particular theme, issue, movement in the cultural and/or literary development and history of Italy. Topics will vary according to current research and teaching interests of academic staff. They may include a study of aspects of early modern and contemporary Italy, individual texts studied in their historical and cultural contexts using a range of approaches and methodologies.|
|Assessment:||A 2000-word essay 50%, a 10-minute class paper in Italian 25% and a 1-hour test 25%.|
