Course Overview: The Postgraduate Diploma in Classical Ballet Teaching is a one year degree designed to provide training to prospective and current Classical Ballet teachers. The Postgraduate Diploma in Classical Ballet Teaching will
  • train graduate students of dance in the art of teaching Classical Ballet;
  • enrich present teachers with a comprehensive program of core and allied subjects;
  • provide a recognised qualification for teaching Classical Ballet.
Objectives: The objectives of this course are :
  • to produce teachers of Classical Ballet with a high degree of proficiency in pedagogy;

  • to produce teachers of Classical Ballet with effective assessment and reporting skills;

  • to provide teachers of Classical Ballet with a recognised postgraduate qualification;

  • to foster in teachers of Classical Ballet a spirit of inquiry, creativity and initiative to progress the art form into the 21st century;

  • to produce teachers of Classical Ballet, who have a comprehensive understanding of human psychology and anatomy, and who can provide safe ballet tuition, both physically and mentally;

  • to equip teachers of Classical Ballet with the necessary business management and production skills in setting up their own studios, and in developing their own programs of study and performance.

The Postgraduate Diploma in Classical Ballet Teaching will -

  • train graduate students of dance in the art of teaching Classical Ballet;

  • enrich present teachers with a comprehensive program of core and allied subjects;

  • provide a recognised qualification for teaching Classical Ballet.

Entry Requirements: Applicants are required to have a three year degree, or equivalent, in the study of dance OR equivalent documented professional dance experience of at least 5 years.
