Ms Elizabeth FreemanSubject Overview: | Definitions of conflict, conflict theories and research on conflict are used to analyse the types of conflicts that occur in schools at administration, staff and student levels. The subject draws on theory research and from a range of disciplines. Approaches to the management of conflict in schools are evaluated and a comprehensive and multifaceted model of conflict management for schools is presented. A range of specific conflict management processes are introduced and evaluated for the school context e.g. negotiation, mediation, community conferencing. The subject provides students with an opportunity to review conflict management policy and practice in their own settings. |
