Objectives: | On successful completion of this course, students should be able to: Understand the core areas of management, and related to those areas, the management principles, theories and models. Implement the knowledge and capabilities needed to manage organisations effectively and successfully. Analyse organisation based problems and apply relevant models and theories to generate appropriate solutions. Examine critical issues associated with creating motivational organisational environments. Understand how managers can make informed strategic choices in relation to managing an organisation to improve strategic outcomes. Understand how managers can make informed strategic choices in relation to managing an organisation to improve strategic outcomes. Understand all the key areas needed to become a successful manager and leader, including managing innovation and change; different ways of motivating and leading people; developing strategies for national and global markets; and developing market-oriented organisations. Optimise the financial performance of an organisation. On successful completion of this course, students should be able to demonstrate the following attributes and skills: Solving complex marketing problems Accessing empirical and theoretical research from various sources Team work Analysis and synthesis of information Oral and written communication skills. |
Course Structure & Available Subjects: | The Master of Applied Commerce (Management) 16 Subject Program consists of 16 semester-length subjects comprising two fundamental subjects, seven core management subjects and seven management elective subjects. |
Subject Options: |
Two fundamentals subjects 325-491 Business Fundamentals and one 200 or 300 level Economics and Commerce subject as approved by the Director of the Master of Applied Commerce. Students who have completed appropriate undergraduate study may be exempted (not credited) from undertaking these fundamental subjects. Entry Requirements: | An undergraduate degree in any discipline, or equivalent. Students may commence in either semester one or semester two. |
