Dr Peter EckersallSubject Overview: | This subject introduces students to a variety of critical methodologies suitable for the engagement in, and analysis of, creative arts. Students will consider the theoretical grounding for an arts culture nexus and consider this relationship from the perspective of important critical, methodologies/contexts such as Marxism, feminism, postmodernism, historicism, postcolonialism, etc. A program of seminars will be led by staff from all art forms at the school supported by relevant visiting specialists. Students will be required to participate in seminar discussions. |

Assessment: | Seminar preparation and participation equivalent to 1500 words 35% (due at the end of semester), a written paper (due one week after oral presentation); and a 3500-word essay 65% (due end of semester). There is a hurdle requirement of a minimum of 80% attendance.Assessment submitted late without an approved formal extension will be penalised at 2% per day. Students who fail to submit up to 2-weeks after the final due date without a formal extension and/or special consideration will receive a fail grade for the piece of assessment. |
