Subject Overview:

This is a subject for students who have limited literacy in Chinese. Students will build on their previous study and be able to read relatively complex texts as well as increasing their knowledge of traditional Chinese culture. They should be able to conduct discussion on a wide range of topics.

Assessment: A 1-hour composition test 20% (mid-semester), a 10-minute oral examination 10% (during the examination period), a 2-hour examination 60% (during the examination period), ongoing class work 5% and ongoing class participation 5%.

Breadth Options: This subject is a level 2 or level 3 subject and is not available to new generation degree students as a breadth option in 2008.
This subject or an equivalent will be available as breadth in the future.
Breadth subjects are currently being developed and these existing subject details can be used as guide to the type of options that might be available.
2009 subjects to be offered as breadth will be finalised before re-enrolment for 2009 starts in early October.

Notes:

This subject is available at level one for the background speakers stream of Chinese. It is only available at level 1 for students who commenced the background speakers stream of Chinese at level one This subject was previously offered as 110-041 Standard Chinese 3A. Students who have completed Standard Chinese 3A are not eligible to enrol in this subject.
