Time Commitment: | Contact Hours: 120 hours of clinical placement plus up to 20 hours of class presentations and workshops. Total Time Commitment: Students are expected to undertake a number of hours of self directed learning in this subject. Approximately 50 hours of self directed learning is suggested. | ||||||||||||

Ms Kim MillerSubject Overview: | This clinical studies unit is designed to broaden and deepen knowledge and skills gained in 513-664 Anatomy for Neurological Physiotherapy and 513-665 Advanced Topics in Neurology. It will consist of an advanced clinical practice placement in an area of specialisation that meets the student's identified learning objectives. Placements will be at approved institutions in Australia or overseas, where clinical supervisors have significant experience in Neurological Physiotherapy and in the identified area of specialisation. The student will develop an advanced level of skills in patient assessment and treatment planning, physiotherapy intervention, critical evaluation of treatment techniques, education of patients, caregivers and health professionals, consultancy and patient advocacy. |

Assessment: | Continuous clinical assessment including learning contract (55%), videotape and case presentation (40%), reflective journal (5%). Students must gain a pass in both the clinical and theoretical components in order to pass the subject. |
