Subject Overview:

This subject will review current approaches to mental health policy development. These include: issues of mental health legislation and human rights; financing; the role of advocacy in national-Level planning; quality improvement strategies; and development of national drugs policy. Mechanisms to improve the quality of mental health policy are integral to effective implementation and these will be reviewed, as well as the need to address barriers to quality, access and implementation.

Assessment: One assignment 3000-5000 words (100%).
