Course Overview:

The postgraduate certificate provides graduates working in the field with a professional qualification in language testing and language program evaluation. The course is designed to train specialists in the design and evaluation of language programs and is a pathway to the Master of Applied Linguistics (Language Testing and Language Program Evaluation).

Objectives:

Students who complete the postgraduate certificate will:

  • design and evaluate language assessment procedures relevant to their professional experience or destinations;
  • understand the relevance of debates within language testing and assessment about validity and reliability to practical assessment activity;
  • carry out aspects of the evaluation of language programs relevant to their professional experience or destinations;
  • understand the main approaches to the evaluation of language programs.

Entry Requirements:

The minimum entry requirement is:

  • an undergraduate degree with a major in applied linguistics, linguistics, English, education, LOTE, speech pathology, psychology, sociology or a cognate discipline a grade average of H2B (70%) or equivalent in the major.
