Subject Overview:

This subject examines the phenomenon of bi-/multilingualism, especially in the Australian context. It enables students to understand the choices made by speakers, the role of language contact in language change, and how languages are processed. It also introduces the political significance of languages.

Subject offered as both online and on-campus. Some restrictions on student visa holders apply. Please contact the subject coordinator for more information. Formerly available as 175-504 and as 175-443 . Students who have completed 175-504 or 175-443 are not eligible to enrol in this subject.

Assessment:

A 3000-word essay 60% (due at the end of the semester) and two 1000-word class papers 20% each (due mid-semester and at the end of the semester).
