Course Overview:

The postgraduate diploma allows students to undertake a research project in a specialist field of study. Students will gain considerable knowledge in an area of German and engage in critical assessment of the major theoretical claims of the discipline. The course provides a pathway to higher degree research for students who have not completed a four year BA (Honours) with a research component in German.

Objectives:

Students who complete the postgraduate diploma should:

  • engage in sophisticated discourse in German;
  • enhance their reading comprehension of the language and their written and spoken command of German;
  • enhance the ability to discuss, analyse and evaluate complex ideas in German;
  • become acquainted with recent critical theory and methodology.

Entry Requirements:

The minimum entry requirement is:

  • an undergraduate degree with a major in German or cognate discipline a grade average of H2B (70%) or equivalent in the major
or
  • a Graduate Diploma in Arts (German) with a grade average of H2B (70%) or equivalent.
