Course Overview:	The postgraduate diploma allows students to undertake a research project in a specialist field of study. Students will gain considerable knowledge in an area of political science and engage in critical assessment of the major theoretical claims of the discipline. The course provides a pathway to higher degree research for students who have not completed a four year BA (Honours) with a research component in political science. Objectives:	Students who complete the postgraduate diploma should: complete the equivalent of fourth year honours with a research component and obtain a recognised qualification; obtain an adequate basis for pursuing advanced studies in political science at masters or PhD level; develop a specialist understanding of specific areas of study, showing an understanding of the latest research directions; develop a capacity for an advanced level of analysis in relation to the specific issues in political science.

Entry Requirements:	The minimum entry requirement is: an undergraduate degree with a major in political science or cognate discipline and a grade average of at least H2B (70%) or equivalent in the major or a Graduate Diploma in Arts (Political Science) with a grade average of at least H2B (70%) or equivalent in the course.
