Overview:

The breadth options at Level 2 and/or Level 3 for Bachelor of Environments students are restricted depending on the major that has been selected.

This list of breadth restrictions (exclusions) for the Bachelor of Environments has been approved by the Course Standing Committee.

These lists also include some Level 1 subjects. Once a student has commenced their major and is in their second or third year of the Bachelor of Environments, the breadth option restrictions will also apply to Level 1 subjects.

Architecture major

Students undertaking the Architecture major are not permitted to take as breadth:

  • any Art History subjects (subject codes beginning AHIS)
  • any of the following Level 2 or Level 3 Planning, Design or Construction subjects.

Civil Systems major

Students undertaking the Civil Systems major are not permitted to take as breadth:

  • any Chemistry subjects (subject codes beginning CHEM)
  • any Civil Engineering subjects (subject codes beginning CVEN)
  • any Earth Science subjects (subject codes beginning ERTH)
  • any Engineering subjects (subject codes beginning ENGR)
  • any Geology subjects (subject codes beginning GEOL)
  • any Geomatics subjects (subject codes beginning GEOM)
  • any Mathematics and Statistics subjects (subject codes beginning MAST) - with the exception of MAST10006 Calculus 2 and MAST10027 Linear Algebra (and any required prerequisites for these subjects such as MAST10005 Calculus 1 and MAST10012 Introduction to Mathematics)
  • any Physics subjects (subject codes beginning PHYC)
  • any of the following Level 2 or Level 3 Construction subjects:

Environmental Geographies, Politics and Cultures major

Due to the Environmental Geographies, Politics and Cultures major falling under the socio‚Äźcultural category, students are not permitted to take social science subjects (including anthropology and social theory, development studies, psychology, international studies, Asian studies, Australian indigenous studies, Australian studies, linguistics, cultural studies, criminology, sociology and political science) as breadth.

Students undertaking the Environmental Geographies Politics and Cultures major are not permitted to take as breadth:

  • any Anthropology subjects (subject codes beginning ANTH)
  • any Asian Studies subjects (subject codes beginning ASIA)
  • any Australian Indigenous Studies subjects (subject codes beginning AIND)
  • any Australian Studies subjecs (subject code beginning AUST)
  • any Criminology subjects (subject codes beginning CRIM)
  • any Development Studies subjects (subject codes beginning DEVT)
  • any Economics subjects (subject codes beginning ECON) - with the exception of ECON10004 Introductory Microeconomics and ECON10003 Introductory Macroeconomics
