Subject Overview:

This subject covers the following topics: Interpretation of symbols, imagery, colour, archetypal figures; Jungian theory and philosophy - the shadow, anima/animus and the interpretation of dreams; Myth; Mandala; Transpersonal therapy.

Objectives:

On completion of this subject, students will have gained an understanding of:

  • Jungian philosophy and archetypes (including shadow, anima/animus);
  • Basic concepts of transpersonal therapy;
  • Interpretation of symbols commonly found in myths and dreams;
  • The theory of shape, form and colour of the mandala, and gained skill in its interpretation.
Assessment:

A written paper (1,500 words) relating to case material.
