Education Student CentreSubject Overview: | This subject focuses on children and young people's identity formation in a context of social change. It explores the impact of media, workplace relations, digital communications, and family life on young people. Students will explore contrasting approaches to children and young people's identity (eg developmental, socialogical, feminist, postcolonial and postmodern) and will gain an understanding of the relationship between social conditions and subjectivities, including the ways in which children and young people actively shape identities. The subject also explores these processes as they affect different groups of children and young people, including the impact of gender, race, ethnicity and geographic location. |
