Screen Language 1A teaches craft skills covering major aspects of direction in Semester One. This subject includes discussion and analysis of film directing styles and approaches in such areas as performance/camera/editing/sound and production direction. This subject is delivered in practical based workshops as well as group tutorials with varied content depending on the strand of study. |

Assessment: |
Researching Film Styles (inc Directors/Actor/etc.) One major essay (1500 words, 15%) and class presentation on topic (equivalent to 5000 words, 45%); Class/Workshop/Tutorials Participation; Participation assessed on criteria of engagement, ability to discuss and give/receive feedback and teamwork skills. Attendance is compulsory; Students must submit all assessment items in order to be eligible for a pass in this subject. Students must attend 80% of workshops, classes and lectures in order to be eligible for assessment. |
