Admission to the Graduate Diploma in Publishing and Communications (Advanced) or Master of Publishing and Communications. Students who wish to undertake this subject must consult the program coordinator for permission. This subject is recommended only for students in their final semester of study.

This subject involves a study of an approved topic in publishing and communications. Details of the program being offered will be available from the coordinator. Students who complete this subject successfully should have demonstrated a specialist understanding of the topic, shown a capacity for an advanced level of analysis and familiarised themselves with the latest directions of research into that particular topic.

Student who complete this subject should have acquired additional information, methodology or skills directly relevant to their program of study.

A project proposal of 1,000 words (20%), due mid-semester.

A research paper of 4,000 words (80%), due in the examination period.

Students are required to attend a minimum of 80% of supervision meetings in order to pass the subject.

This subject is not available as a breadth subject.

Students who complete this subject should acquire research and written communication skills through essay writing and supervised discussion.

All required written work must be submitted in order to pass the subject. Essays submitted after the due date without an extension will be penalised 10% per day. Essays submitted after two weeks of the assessment due date without a formally approved application for special consideration or an extension will only be marked on a pass/fail basis, if accepted.
