Time Commitment: Contact Hours: 15 two-hour tutorials per semester

Contact as above plus sustained practice/rehearsal time, in consultation with the coordinator.
Prerequisites:

Permission of the coordinator, based on a 30 minute audition of prescribed repertoire. Applications for ANAM Ensembles and ANAM Orchestra are called for in the semester prior to enrolment.

Subject Overview:

Students will develop professional level skills and artistic awareness neccessary to prepare and perform chamber music repertoire selected from 17th to 21st centuries, in partnership with leading artists from Australia and abroad.
Learning Outcomes:

On completion of this subject, students should be able to:

  • show artistic development as chamber music players with regard to:

- Technique
- Interpretation
- Expression
- Communication

  • perform selected repertoire to concert standard
  • demonstrate a capacity to think critically and independently in matters of corporate style, sonority, balance, ensemble, phrasing, belnding and musical gesture
  • identify the broad and diverse cultural references of the chamber music literature
Assessment:

Satisfactory attendance and participation (30%); preparation and public performance of an approved chamber music program, held during the semester (70%). Assessment is on a Pass-Fail basis. Less than 80% attendance will result in a fail.
