Time Commitment: Contact Hours: A 45-minute individual lesson each week; instrument class as arranged; regular concert practice class

Not less than 65% in Practical Study 6 or Music Performance 6, or a successful 30 minute audition for eligible applicants.

Subject Overview:

Students will develop instrumental, vocal or conducting technique to a level appropriate to a fourth year of study and a sophisticated awareness of the stylistic and interpretative characteristics of the repertory studies.
Learning Outcomes:

On completion of the subject, students should be able to:

  • perform technically based repertoire with fluency;

  • identify and develop musically appropriate solutions for technical difficulties;

  • evaluate and respond to technical demands in selected repertoire; and

  • respond with musical understanding to the aesthetic qualities of technical ­repertoire.
Assessment:

A 15-minute technical examination at the end of the semester of approved technical repertoire (100%); teacher's report and recommended grading; satisfactory attendance at instrumental or vocal class and attendance at concert class. Students must have attended all applicable classes in order to complete the subject.
