This subject has the following teaching availabilities in 2016:

204 hours with contact as above including sustained practice time in consultation with individual practice teacher.

MUSI20202 - Performance 4, and with a minimum mark of 75%
OR
MUSI20200 - Practical Music 4, and with a minimum mark of 75%
OR
MUSI20059 - Music Performance 4, and with a minimum mark of 75%

Students enrolled in Performance 5 are required to also enrol in 6.25 credit point orchestral studies OR related ensemble OR elective, as directed by head of area.

Students will develop the knowledge, competencies and skills necessary to perform music at a professional level. Areas to be covered include advanced study of instrumental or vocal technique in order to cope with all stylistic demands, and
specialisation in all related aspects of music performance. Classes in the repertoire and materials of the instrument will also be undertaken.

In order to contextualise their education within the best practices of local, national and international standards, students are expected to work competently and productively as team members both alone and in groups, for example participation in individual lessons, performance class, orchestral and/or related ensembles. In order to ensure the highest level of performance preparation, 100% attendance is expected.

On completion of the subject, students should be able to:

• perform technically-based repertoire with assured musical fluency
• conceptualise and develop solutions for advanced technical difficulties
• evaluate and address technical demands in selected repertoire
• respond with musical assurance and maturity to the aesthetic qualities of technical repertoire
• develop best performance practice skills within individual group settings

• 20-minute examination on prescribed content from the appropriate instrumental or vocal area syllabus, taken during the examination period at the end of semester (100%)

Hurdle Requirements: 100% participation as a performer in instrumental or vocal class unless approved by head of area; 100% participation in performance class or related ensemble or elective unless approved by head of area.

This subject is not available as a breadth subject.
