Subject Overview: |
Students will rehearse repertoire that includes traditional, folk, and contemporary Chinese music, as well as a new element, improvisation. The group will mainly be based on the silk-bamboo ensemble in China, with the following instruments: dizi, sheng, yangqin, erhu, zhonghu, zhongruan, daruan, and some Chinese percussion instruments. |

Assessment: |
Weekly preparation of parts, individual and/or sectional practice and active contribution to all rehearsals, classes and performances as directed (50%); a ten -minute practical examination at the end of the semester (50%). 100% weekly punctual and full attendance is expected. Less than 80% attendance will result in a fail. |
