Subject Overview:

This subject involves the study of an approved topic in journalism practice. Details of the program being offered will be available from the Centre for Advanced Journalism. Students who complete this subject successfully should have demonstrated a specialist understanding of the topic, contributed effectively to the work of the seminar, shown a capacity for an advanced level of analysis and familiarised themselves with the latest directions of research into the particular topic.
Learning Outcomes:

The student will have acquired additional information, methodology or skills directly relevant to their program of study.
Assessment:
  • Seminar participation including class papers (1,000 words), due throughout the teaching period (20%)
  • Applied practical project, resulting in brief report and reflective essay (3,000 words), due throughout the teaching period (30%)
  • Final assignment (4,000 words), due within six weeks of module completion (50%)

Students are required to attend a minimum of 80% of classes in order to pass this subject.
