Subject Overview: |
This subject involves a series of seminar presentations and discussions on a topic or topics of contemporary or special interest in Arabic and Islamic Studies. Topics will vary from year to year, depending on current events and the interests of the particular cohort of students. Where appropriate, visiting scholars will participate as guest lecturers. Some of the seminars in any given year will be conducted in Arabic. |

Assessment: |
One research essay of 5000 words (due in the examination period). Hurdle requirement: Class attendance is required for this subject; if you do not attend a minimum of 75% of classes without an approved exemption you will not be eligible for a pass in this subject. Note: Assessment submitted late without an approved extension will be penalised at 10% per day. In-class tasks missed without approval will not be marked. All pieces of written work must be submitted to pass this subject. |
