Subject Overview:

This subject equips students with the drawing skills necessary for the development of a small-scale design and with the graphic skills necessary to illustrate and document the design to produce a portfolio. Sketch design skills will be developed through a series of class graphics exercises. The skills of hand drawing, the use of software such as SketchUp pro and the Adobe Design Suite will be introduced. These individual skills will be incorporated into a full graphic presentation of a small-scale design.

Learning Outcomes:

On completion of this subject students should be able to:

  • demonstrate development and resolution of plant and material palettes;
  • demonstrate development of landscape concept and planting plans and schedule;
  • draw landscape details;
  • produce a portfolio; and
  • present their folio of ideas and drawings to the client
Assessment:

5 x drawing assignments equivalent to 1500 words during the semester (50%), 1 x portfolio and presentation equivalent to 3000 words due at the end of the semester (50%).
