Curriculum Leadership and Management

This subject focuses on the leadership and management competencies necessary to create an effective environment to enhance student learning and success. Topics include: teaching and learning methodologies, assessing student needs, staff development, curriculum administration and structure, computer-based learning, organizational culture, and assessment and reporting.

This subject aims to develop knowledge and understanding of

• curriculum leadership
• contemporary models of learning
• the links between leadership and student outcomes
• leadership interventions
• future schools

Written assignment or project equivalent to 5,000 words (100 per cent).

This subject has a minimum hurdle requirement of 80% attendance at all tutorials, seminars and workshops.

This subject is not available as a breadth subject.

On completion of this subject, students will be able to:

• create an effective environment to enhance student learning and success;
• anticipate and plan strategically for curriculum change within a specified context;
• develop and implement strategies for shared leadership and high achievement; and
• understand the leadership competencies which help create conditions for successful learning

On completion of this subject, students will be able to:

• Demonstrate a range leadership and management competencies necessary implement organisational change;
• Understand curriculum design in a range of educational setting understanding teaching and learning approaches in a range of contexts;
• Demonstrate planning and strategic thinking skills.
