Time Commitment: Contact Hours: IMPLANT DENTISTRY - The group entering 2009 will have alternative Monday afternoons on the surgical clinic, Tuesday morning will be research, Tuesday and Wednesday afternoon will be the restorative clinics. Typically the students will attend one surgical and one restorative clinic per week. Students will have 36 weeks of contact per year over two years. Subject Overview:

This subject is offered as one in a series of four subjects for students enrolled in the Postgraduate Diploma in Clinical Dentistry. Students study either implant dentistry or oral surgery. Learning Outcomes:

To provide advanced clinical practice in the student's chosen field.

Assessment:

Implant Dentistry

On going clinical assesment on the restorative and surgical clinics will occur throughout the two years. The prepared seminars in each clinic stream will be assessed and feedback directly provided. At the end of year one a mock viva will be conducted allowing the students to gauge their effectiveness in learning. At the end of two years the exit exam will be a restorative/surgical viva as well as a combined 3 hour paper.
