This subject explores skills required for transport planners who wish to improve the economic, environmental and social performance of urban transport systems. It draws on international experience and research to articulate the principles and practical techniques in two key areas:
Other issues to be covered in the subject will be chosen in consultation between the lecturer and students. Two topics will be chosen from the following:
The lectures and the individual and group assignments will compare and critically analyse the transport planning practice and outcomes of in Melbourne and in Vancouver and London and cities in German-speaking Europe, New Zealand and East Asia.

Learning Outcomes: |
This subject will enable students to begin to develop expertise equivalent to that which underlies traditional traffic planning and engineering. It will allow them to participate confidently in professional processes to improve urban transport systems. |

1. Group report and class presentation equivalent to 1000 words per student (20%) due Week 4 |
