This is a studio-based capstone subject that bridges design and ecological science. Studio projects will address ecological design as fundamental to modern landscape architectural practice. The studio integrates teaching and learning activities through a digital design platform that enhances skills and prepares students for entry into the postgraduate professional degree.

Having completed this subject it is expected that the student be able to:

• Analyse a site and apply ecological theories to practice;
• Develop a palette of approaches to ecological design;
• Design at the scales of the masterplan to detail design;
• Design experimentally through a digital platform.

• Design project one (equivalent to 2000 words), due in week 4 and worth 20%;
• Design project two (equivalent to 6000 words), due in week 12 and worth 80%.

Hurdle Requirement: Attendance and participation in 75% of the studios is a mandatory requirement.
