Subject Overview: |
This subject further builds on the basics of sound recording presented in The LapTop Recording Studio. Aspects of sound recording including microphone use, mixing, ensemble/band and solo recording, acoustics, recording set up and editing will be examined. Advanced Recording Studio Techniques is delivered in a workshop environment and will practically illuminate the fundamental and advanced principals of mixing and recording engineering. The workshop provides the opportunity for problem solving through the completion of short assignments and group discussion of issues related to advanced studio recording. During the course students will be required to complete individual tasks and engage in whole group discussion.
This subject has a Semester 2 enrolment quota of 40. Selection is based on the order in which students enrol in the subject.

Completion of a recording engineering research task. 800 words due in week 5, worth 20% Completion of a recording engineering audio analysis. 800 words due in week 10, worth 20% Advanced recording studio practical assignment: Advanced Recording Studio Techniques practical assignment explanatory statement. Equivalent 400 words. Due in the examination period, worth 10%. |
