Subject Overview: |
Students develop their ability to communicate in Indonesian and their understanding of Indonesia by engaging with key themes in modern Indonesian society such as: youth culture and urbanisation, family structures and practices, and ethnic and religious topics. Students’ cultural knowledge and ability to use linguistic resources are expanded by reading authentic materials from magazines and newspapers, watching and discussing video clips of dramas and comedies, producing short summaries, and engaging in informal discussion. |

Assessment: |
2 pieces of written work of 300 words each (due early and late semester) 20%, 2 revision tests of each 1 hour, 10% (due early and late semester) 20%, 10-minute oral presentation (mid-semester) 10%, journal (ongoing throughout semester) 10%, 2-hour written examination (during examination period) 30%, a 10-minute oral examination (during examination period) 10%.Class attendance is required for this subject; if you do not attend a minimum of 80% of classes without an approved exemption you will not be eligible for a pass in this subject. Assessment submitted late without an approved extension will be penalised at 10% per day. In-class tasks missed without approval will not be marked. All pieces of written work must be submitted to pass this subject. |
