Subject Overview:

In this subject students are placed into syndicates and complete a business simulation in which they manage a company. The simulation requires students to apply and integrate the knowledge, skills, and attributes acquired and developed in the MBA program.

Learning Outcomes:

On completion of this subject, students should be able to:

  • use existing financial, accounting, production and marketing data in order to develop a forward looking business plan,
  • evaluate the inflow of information to adapt and change their operating plans in response to changing circumstances.
  • use the available financial, accounting, production and marketing information to assess and diagnose the results of their decisions, and
  • cogently explain and defend their decisions.
Assessment:
  • Contribution to syndicate, throughout the subject (20%);
  • Syndicate assignment (equivalent to 1500 word individual assignment), due mid-way through subject (25%);
  • Syndicate project written report (equivalent to 2000 word individual assignment), due at end of subject (35%);
  • Syndicate project presentation (equivalent to 1000 word individual assignment), due at end of subject (20%).
