Subject Overview:

This is a hands-on subject which introduces students to the process of documenting an historical building for the purpose of archive and publication. Students will work in small groups to research, measure and document a building of historic value.

Learning Outcomes:
  • Acquire a solid understanding of the language of Architectural Drawings.
  • Be introduced to a variety of techniques and programs used for measuring and drawing: hand drafting, CAD, Adobe Photoshop (photogrammetry), Adobe InDesign, etc.
  • Develop confidence in producing illustrated documents for publication.
Assessment:

Exercise 1: drawing (1,000 word equivalent), 20%, due week 4

Exercise 2: group assignment combining research & drawings (4,000 word equivalent per student), 80%, due week 14 (exam period)
