Learning Outcomes:

Students who complete the Graduate Diploma in Arts (Advanced) in this area of specialisation should:

  • Be able to understand and critically engage with key theoretical and empirical approaches in sociology exploring the social patterns characterising contemporary societies;
  • Be able to understand and use advanced sociological research methods, whether in the form of critical engagement with secondary materials; document research; field work; or other forms of sociological research;
  • Have developed a reflexive awareness of the social, ethical and cultural dimensions of sociological research, analysis and practice.
Structure & Available Subjects:

Duration: 1 year full-time / 2 years part-time

The Graduate Diploma in Arts (Advanced) in this area of specialisation requires:

  • thesis subject (50 points)
  • two compulsory subjects (25 points)
  • two elective subjects (25 points)
