Learning Outcomes:

Students who complete the Graduate Diploma in Arts (Advanced) in this area of specialisation should:

  • discuss a wide range of current issues in Japanese;
  • appreciate language styles and major points of selected readings in Japanese;
  • demonstrate an understanding of Japan and contemporary Japanese society;
  • write a thesis of 15,000 words, comparable with that appropriate to an Honours degree.
Structure & Available Subjects:

Duration: 1 year full-time / 2 years part-time

The Graduate Diploma in Arts (Advanced) in this area of specialisation requires:

  • thesis subject (50 points)
  • three compulsory subjects (37.5 points)
  • one elective subjects (12.5 points)

Total 100 points

Please note: the thesis must be taken over two consecutive semesters
