Learning Outcomes:

Students who complete the Graduate Diploma in Arts (Advanced) in this area of specialisation should:

  • undertake the equivalent of an honours year of study in the discipline;
  • engage in advanced postgraduate study in history and philosophy of science
  • conduct original research leading to the presentation of an honours level thesis.
Structure & Available Subjects:

Duration: 1 year full-time / 2 years part-time

The Graduate Diploma in Arts (Advanced) in this area of specialisation requires:

  • thesis subject (50 points)
  • three compulsory subjects (37.5 points)
  • one elective subject (12.5 points)

Total 100 points

Please note: the thesis must be taken over two consecutive semesters

One subject from a cognate discipline, typically philosophy, history or sociology, which would serve as a theory, skills or research methods subject for the thesis. The selection of this subject should be made with the permission of the subject coordinator and the HPS honours coordinator.
