Time Commitment: Contact Hours: Regular, documented consultations over two semesters with the supervisor(s) as arranged. Meetings should normally occur at least fortnightly and should be at least of half an hour duration

Subject Overview:

This subject entails an original supervised research project on a topic approved by the honours coordinator.
Learning Outcomes:
  • complete supervised research on an advanced topic in Linguistics and Applied Linguistics.
  • prepare a poster of the results of their research.
  • complete a thesis of 15,000 words on their research.
  • be able to write a sustained piece of original argumentation.
  • be able to survey an area of knowledge, taking into account all relevant literature on the topic.
Assessment:

A thesis of 15 000 words due at the end of the second semester [100%]. Students are also required to prepare and present a poster of their research at a poster session held at the end of the 6th week of the second semester of enrolment.
